The Toyota Rav4 is expected to eventually arrive on Indian shores at an estimated price of Rs. 25-28 lakh, making it a costlier luxury 5-seater crossover. It will arrive as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) and reports peg the expected launch by end-2021 or a little later down the line. Toyota India has tested the car extensively and the latest generation model is the same one shown at the 2018 New York Auto Show. The Japanese automaker may launch the Rav4 as an import initially before local assembly is considered for lowering costs, on the basis of overall market response.

The Rav4 gets the Toyota New Global Architecture or TNGA platform used for the new Camry and Corolla hatchback globally and it will have a longer wheelbase with slightly reduced length. The SUV gets an aggressive front fascia, complete with bolder and muscular design lines and 19-inch black alloy wheels along with a two-tone color option. The cabin has been updated with the new floating infotainment unit and a brand new audio system and other connectivity features. There is also wireless phone charging in tandem with optional features like a high-end JBL audio system. There are good safety features although the availability of the same may vary here in the Indian market. The SUV comes with the petrol four cylinder 2.5 litre engine that will be paired to a new 8-speed automatic transmission unit. The hybrid models will come with a CVT unit. There is AWD along with the AWD-I hybrid setup from Toyota adding 30% enhanced torque for the rear wheels.
