    Audi has officially pulled the wraps off the new 2022 Audi A8 facelift flagship luxury sedan. The updated model now comes with bolder styling, a host of new and revised features, and a portfolio of new tech. In fact, with the new A8, the Ingolstadt-based luxury carmaker has also revived the Horch brand, by introducing a top-of-the-line Audi A8 L Horch model. However, the Horch trim will be exclusively sold in China. The new top-end trim will allow the A8 to go up against the likes of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, Bentley Flying Spur, and Genesis G90L Limousine among others. Audi will begin the sale of the car in Europe in December 2021. India is likely to get in some time in 2022.

  • Kia EV6

    Kia is set to commence accepting bookings for the new EV6 from May 26 with only limited numbers available in the first batch. As we had previously reported the first batch is limited to just 100 units with India getting the GT Line model only. However, the EV6 GT Line will not be limited to just an all-wheel drive variant. As per a leaked brochure, Kia's electric car will be available with two powertrain options – rear-wheel drive (RWD) and the more powerful all-wheel drive (AWD). Both powertrain set-ups will be paired with a 77.4kWh battery pack with the RWD model pushing range up to 528 km (WLTP) on a single charge. The AWD has a shorter range of up to 425 km courtesy of its more power-consuming dual motor set-up.

    The sixth-generation Volkswagen Polo facelift has been unveiled in international markets and we have to say it looks pretty stylish adoring some of the ID.3 design elements. As already seen in the leaked image, the new Volkswagen Polo now sports a new dual-beam headlight conjoined with LED DRL strip running across the grille. The bumper has been revised as well, making for a more aggressive new look, while it also gets a new design for the alloy wheels. While modifications to the front and profile have been subtle, the rear has received some significant updates, starting with the new split-LED taillights and a more prominent VW and Polo badging.

    The S204 will be the Indianised version of the Ssangyong XLV and will get styling, feature and powertrain upgrades for the Indian market. Quite customarily, the test mule is heavily camouflaged but elements like the family grille, dummy headlamps and steel rims (typically seen on Mahindra test cars) give away that it's a Mahindra. Then a detailed look will help you notice design characters like the sculpting on the haunches, identical to what we have seen on the XUV300 and on the Ssangyong XLV, similar wing mirrors and the rear quarter glass. Moreover, the model looks bigger going by its silhouette. That said, just like the S204 gets a face of its own sporting the Mahindra family grille, a comparatively sleeker airdam and tight overhangs, even the rear has been revamped and the license plate area has been moved onto the tailgate. The tailgate itself is more sculpted and it also gets the shark fin antenna along with roof rails.

  • Tata Altroz EV

    First showcased at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the Tata Altroz EV is built on the all-new Agile Light Flexible Advanced (ALFA) platform and it will employ the company's Ziptron powertrain technology. While the technical specifications are yet to be revealed, Tata Motors has confirmed that all its future EVs with Ziptron technology will come with a minimum range of 250 km on a single charge, and will be equipped with a Lithium-Ion battery with IP-67 certification and 8-years warranty. At present, the company is planning to launch the Altroz EV in the first half of 2021, however, due to the coronavirus pandemic, there might be some delay.

Some of the earlier spy photos had revealed that the new XUV500 will get a Mercedes-Benz style large, single-unit display with split screens for the touchscreen infotainment system and the instrument cluster. In fact, the display on the new Mahindra XUV500 is expected to be wider than the 12.25-inch unit on Mercedes-Benz models. The unit is expected to offer a tonne of extra information like tyre pressure, distance to empty, and maybe even maps.

    The new Mahindra Scorpio N is built on a new body-on-frame platform and will be equipped with modern features and the latest technology in addition to new design both externally, and internally. The exterior of the new Mahindra Scorpio-N is quite bold based on the same boxy silhouette from before. In front, the new Mahindra Scorpio-N features a new grille, unlike the Mahindra XUV700, with six slats and the new Mahindra logo at the centre, below which is a honeycomb mesh for the air dams. The LED twin-pod projector headlights are a new addition to the Scorpio-N and so are the C-shaped LED fog lights. The hood gets strong lines accentuating its SUV stance. There's also a gentle dash of chrome at the front, as well as on the side of the door handles. The black cladding and the silver highlights add to the overall rugged appeal of the SUV, while the chrome accents on the beltline add a touch of premiumness. The new Mahindra Scorpio-N sits on a pair of 18-inch alloy wheels.

    Hyundai Motor India is likely to launch the facelifted version of its popular subcompact SUV, the Hyundai Venue, soon. Select Hyundai dealers have already started accepting pre-bookings for the Venue facelift, for a fully refundable token amount of Rs. 11,000. In fact, some of the dealers we spoke to have told us that the SUV is likely to go on sale in India as early as June 2022. Interestingly, Hyundai has also sent out a 'Block Your Date' to the media for June 19, however, the company has not revealed what is it for. So, we would expect it is related to the upcoming Venue facelift.

    BMW India recently joined the EV race by launching its first all-electric SUV, the BMW iX. The Bavarian carmaker is prepping to expand its electric line-up by introducing the new i4. It is essentially an electric version of the 4 Series Gran Coupe. The electric sedan made its debut earlier this year. It is offered in two variants- eDrive40 and the sportier M50 sedan. While the former makes 330 bhp and 430 Nm of peak torque, the latter is good for 529 bhp.

However, the test mule didn't reveal any details about the design. The subcompact SUV has been in the market for over 5 years, and this is the best time for the company to introduce a new-generation model.

    The Toyota Rav4 is expected to eventually arrive on Indian shores at an estimated price of Rs. 25-28 lakh, making it a costlier luxury 5-seater crossover. It will arrive as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) and reports peg the expected launch by end-2021 or a little later down the line. Toyota India has tested the car extensively and the latest generation model is the same one shown at the 2018 New York Auto Show. The Japanese automaker may launch the Rav4 as an import initially before local assembly is considered for lowering costs, on the basis of overall market response.

  • Mahindra eXUV300

Codenamed S210, the upcoming electric version of the XUV300 will be offered in two variants - standard and long-range version, offering a range of up to 200 km and 350-400 km respectively, on a single charge.

    The Jaguar XF Facelift was unveiled globally in October this year and we are expecting this model to go on sale in India in 2021. It will take you a detailed look to know what all has changed in the new model and on close observation you'll notice that it gets slimmer quad LED headlights now with individual DRL fringes for each unit instead of the J-blade DRL seen on its predecessor. The grille too has been updated and gets diamond detailing with chrome finish while the massive side curtains bring in a sense of sportiness to the design. However, it's on the inside where the Jaguar XF feels really new as the cabin has been reasonably upgraded. Taking centre stage is the new curved 11.4-inch HD touchscreen that gives you access to the new Pivi Pro infotainment system. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and surround camera view among others are the standard features and it also gets over-the-air (OTA) updates. Then it also gets a new fully-digital instrument cluster and a conventional gear lever replacing the rotary knob of the outgoing model. The drivetrain options on the new Jaguar XF remain unchanged. First up, it's the rear-wheel drive 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine that puts out 243 bhp, and then is the all-wheel drive iteration where the same powertrain churns out 292 bhp. While the RWD version clocks triple digit speeds in 6.5 seconds, the AWD version does so in just 5.8 seconds.

    Bentley says that similar to the recently launched Continental GT, the all-new Flying Spur is also a ground-up development that offers superior technology and craftsmanship to deliver high levels of performance and refinement. In fact, the four-door sport sedan will come with the same 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 engine that powers the new Continental GT. The motor is tuned to churn out a massive 625 bhp and develops a monstrous 897 Nm of torque. Having said that, Bentley is expected to a couple more engine options later in the future - a smaller 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that makes 542 bhp and 770 Nm torque, along with a 2.9-litre V6 plug-in hybrid engine as well.

The new Tata Curvv EV Coupe Concept is also longer than the subcompact Nexon EV and will likely measures at around 4.3 metre in length, while it wheelbase too is about 50 mm longer. The bigger wheelbase also comes to its advantage by packing in a bigger battery pack which will deliver more drive range of around 500 km and better power output. It will go against the likes of the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric in the Indian market and the production version of the Tata Curvv EV Coupe is expected to hit the road in 2024.
