How is the design?

Transmission control for the manual models have been handed over to the 6-speed gearbox whereas, the automatic variants have a 6-speed torque convertor. 

How safe is Mahindra Thar?

Mahindra Thar is one of the safest SUVs of all times which you will find in the market.
