About JAWA Forty Two

Jawa Motorcycles historically made a re-entry into the Indian bike segment after an absence of more than 2 decades. The company started its new journey here in style with the launch of the classic Jawa and Jawa Forty Two. The latter is a more contemporary symbol for the famous Czech brand and is also the brand’s most affordable product in the market currently. This brand-new contemporary classic gets several signature aspects including the big fuel tank, round headlamp and chrome bezel, blacked out handlebar with bar-end mirrors, blacked out panels and the flat bench seat. Styling-wise, the motorcycle gets the classic gold pinstripes for its fuel tank and the mudguard in tandem with chrome touches and the cigar-shaped twin chrome exhaust pipes which is a signature element. The Jawa Forty Two also comes with several attractive color options such as Halley Teal, Galactic Green, Starlight Blue Lumos Lime, Nebula Blue, and Comet
Red.

The Jawa Forty Two has several contemporary feature additions including a round and off-set instrument console with the digital odometer readout in place along with a radiator that has liquid cooling technologies too. There is fuel injection along with the futuristic catalytic converter too. This means that the motorcycle is BS-VI compliant while some of the parts are also standard including the tail lights, halogen headlamps and the belly pan. The Forty Two gets the single cylinder 293 cc engine based upon the engine used by the Mahindra Mojo with extensive tuning. The liquid cooled motor makes 27 BHP and 28 Nm of maximum torque being while mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The claimed fuel economy figures stand at 37.5 Kmpl while there is single channel ABS as standard.

The front gets 18-inch spoked wheels and 90/90 section tyres while the rear gets the 17-inch wheel with 120/80 section tyre alongside. There are hydraulic telescopic forks in front along with rear Gas Canister-twin hydraulic shock absorbers. The motorcycle has a 280 mm disc with front floating calipers in tandem with the rear 153 mm drum brake unit, supported by single-channel ABS.

JAWA Forty Two Expert Review

How is the design of Jawa Forty Two?

The Jawa Forty Two does get some signature design touches including the chunky fuel tank, round shaped headlamp and chrome bezel, the stylishly blacked out handlebar and accompanying bar-end mirrors, neatly blacked out panels and a flat bench seat as well. Premier engineering means sleeker body lines and elegant curves and an overall robust appearance and stance.

When it comes to styling, the bike comes with classic gold pinstripes adorning the mudguard and fuel tank along with chrome bits and cigar-shaped twin chrome exhaust pipes too.

How does the Jawa Forty Two ride?

Jawa motorcycles have always offered excellent riding experiences. They are sheer pleasures to ride on a variety of roads. The Jawa Forty Two is no exception indeed. They can go off the road as well. Low-end torue is vastly improved now and with the flat torque curve, the overall riding experience is quite fulfilling indeed. The bike feels more composed and the telescopic and twin hydraulic front and rear shocks make sure that your spine stays unscathed. Precise damping, good cornering and high speed stability are other key factors worth noting.

How comfortable is Jawa Forty Two?

Ride quality is more comfortable now and the engine has been upgraded to a more sophisticated setup. The Forty Two offers enhanced comfort for long rides on the highway, at part with Royal Enfield models and city riding is also comfortable owing to the punch and agile performance. The 25 mm longer and considerably more comfortable seat also helps considerably. It is another major improvement and the new seat keeps riders going throughout the day. The rider’s triangle is still sporty and you will lean forward a little on the bike. Comfort is also ensured with a revamped suspension setup which takes rough roads nicely

How’s the tech?

The Jawa Forty Two gets numerous features including the off-set instrument cluster in a round shape. This has a digital readout for odometer while there is liquid cooling technology for the radiator along with fuel injection and the futuristic catalytic converter, making it BS-VI compliant.

How’s the mileage of Jawa Forty Two?

The Jawa Forty Two offers good fuel economy of 37.5 kilometres per litre.

How is the performance of Jawa Forty Two?

Jawas have always been good performers, right from the days when they started with a four stroke single cylinder 300 cc engine. The Forty Two carries forward this agile and high performing nature with aplomb. The revamped engine feels more refined and a lot smoother. Power builds up in a linear manner and the highest punch makes the bike respond enthusiastically in the mid-range. The Forty Two offers good performance with a sporty feel that is unmatched. Yet, low-end torque is lacking slightly, meaning that you have to keep at the gearbox for swift maneuvering. This is the only dampener while you are riding within the city.

Is the Jawa Forty Two good value?

The Jawa Forty Two ticks almost all the boxes, right from the design and aesthetic appeal to iconic brand recall and good technologies along with a refined and powerful engine, cruising abilities and enhanced comfort and riding experiences. Fuel economy is also pretty decent in this case. Hence, the motorcycle offers good value for money.

The design is iconic with signature Jawa touches, seat height is accessible, the seat and riding experience are comfortable enough and features are decent. The price point is also attractive for a cruiser competing with several heavyweights. All in all, it is a good bike to own, particularly for those who are Jawa fans!

  • Is it worth buying Jawa Forty Two?

Rs. 1.65-1.74 lakh is the price range for this iconic petrol cruiser that offers 37.5 kilometres per litre in terms of mileage. It is worth buying the Jawa Forty Two for its stylish and signature design in tandem with its refined and high-performing engine, its cruising abilities, excellently tuned suspension system, riding comfort and attractive price point alike.

  • Which is better Jawa Forty Two or Royal Enfield Classic 350?

The Jawa Forty Two is slightly costlier than the Royal Enfield Classic 350 but this is a marginal difference. It is significantly lighter and more agile while offering more power although the Royal Enfield Classic 350 has the higher capacity engine on offer. Mileage-wise, there is not much to differentiate between the two motorcycles. It all depends on the type of riding experience and performance you desire from your bike.

Awesome looks. Awesome seating and style. Dual exhaust is great but single exhaust would have improved the fuel efficiency. Need to add a 200 CC to complete with midrange commuters section. Dual suspension will definitely give a comfort to the rider even in a pothole roads of INDIA. Make sure fuel efficiency is good to complete with Royal Enfield, at least 35km to 40km. Price need to be strategically fixed to complete with Royals. Please have a LED headlamp
