Datsun GO+ MPV made its Indian debut at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo and shares platform with GO hatchback, but seems proportionally bigger and more spacious. Dimensionally, it measures 3995mm in length, 1635mm in width and 1490mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2450mm. With the third row of seats, which are made only for kids, the car offers a boot space of 48-litres, but it can be increased up to 347-litres by folding the third row seats. Though the vehicle has a decent ground clearance of 170mm, 13-inch tyres still feel undersized. In its segment, the MPV competes against the Maruti Ertiga, Mahindra Quanto and Honda Mobilio.

The affordable MPV priced in the vicinity of Rs. 4.25 lakh and Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) caters to the customers with large families looking for a low budget vehicle. The seven-seat configuration inside offers comfortable space in the first and second rows but the third row is meant only for kids. Under the hood, it gets the 1.2 litre, petrol engine missing out on the diesel unit and transmission duties are carried over by the five-speed manual gearbox.

Deriving design cues from the GO hatchback, it gets an identical front profile and side facet. With the addition of the third row, the sub-compact MPV sports a different rear profile as compared to its hatchback sibling

Wheelbase measuring 2450mm implies comfortable space for front and rear passengers, although third row is cramped and offers room for kids. Boot space is confined at 48 litres, which can be further expanded to 347 litres by folding the third row seats. 

Datsun GO Plus Engine Specifications & Transmission

Datsun has used the same 1.2 litre petrol engine which does duty on the GO hatchback. The engine makes maximum power of 67bhp and 104Nm of top torque. A five-speed manual transmission is paired to the engine directing power to front wheels.

Powered by the 1.2 litre petrol engine Datsun Go+ is claimed to deliver ARAI rated fuel economy of 20.62km/l, which is impressive.

I have purchased a go+ on September 2019 after seeing all negative review about after sale service and sales support....I thought I ll not get the same...And even I mentioned the same while I was visited to Shivamogga showroom for the first time. And person named Jagadish from Mysore Honnasiri was so rude and he doesn't know how to speak with a client (customer) ,am related to a business field and that too a outdoor work we never speak to our customers even after workdone. Again showroom people were looting customers in all possible ways...By adding hidden charges... Kindly people who want to buy Datsun or Nissan vehicles? should think twice before going to nearest showrooms....

It is a nice look car. As a family car this affordable car. I could not drive 5000 kms yet and thus cannot judge its mileage kmpl but I like this car.

Datsun Go+ Expert Review

Datsun GO+ is an MPV and was debuted at the Auto Expo of 2014. There were other versions of this car as well as rubbing shoulders. The car is bigger. It has a lot more space than its brethren out there. The dimension is 3995mm in length and the width is 1635mm. the wheelbase is 2450mm. There is a third row of seats but those are for kids. The boot space is 48 litres but can be extended to 347 litres if the third row is folded back. The ground clearance is pretty good. The car hasn't been an easy sale in India since its launch here. It's a low-cost car. It's for the entry-level purchasers. This is good for the commuters too. These buyers typically look for the ones with a wide service network. Datsun doesn't have that. This is one reason why this car is not catching up as good as a Maruti or a Hyundai. The company, however, is pretty optimistic about this car and hopes the car will beat it and go on to rally up to the top. They say this car has the potential to be a champ by and by.

Design

The front and back profiles of the car are similar to the ones you have on the hatchback version. There is an addition of a third-row giving it a different look altogether. It's different from the hatchback. The wheelbase measures 2450mm that means there is comfort for the passengers. The third row is cramped and it's for kids only. Boot space is not enough.

Cabin

There is a mobile docker fitted with an amplifier. There is one mobile holder too. There are Aux-in, USB port and there are two-way speakers on both sides. There is a computer for the drive and there is one gearshift guide. There are follow me headlamps. The fuel lid can be opened remotely and there is one accessory socket. There are heaters and blowers. There is an air conditioner too. There is one remote opener for the tailgate. There are power windows for the front doors. There is a power steering system in place.

Drive Experience

The car has a 1.2-litre petrol engine. Maximum power is 67 bhp and 104 Nm torque. There is a five-speed manual gear. Together, it gives you some pleasure to drive in comfort.

Safety

There are airbags and there is a central locking system. It is available on the top segment of the car. There is a 3-point ELR front seat belt. There is a second-row seat belt also. there is a child lock arrangement too that is manual. There is one engine immobilizer.

Price

The car begins its price at 4.25 lakh and goes up to 6.99 lakh. The top price is 6.99 lakh. The car has been priced such for the economy, a favourite for the first-time buyers.

  • The car has a very ordinary look. The company has tried very hard to give the car an extended and impressive look but it has failed there. The handbrake lever is not comfortable for the tall drivers. There is no music system, even a basic one. The USB port is used for charging the phone only. There is no other function of it. the material used inside is not so good and not at all attractive. The car is noisy. You can hear all sorts of noises within the cabin. This noise becomes unbearable as you begin to accelerate. The insulation of the car should have been given a better thought.

Final Verdict on Go+

It's a family car, an affordable car, and it's spacious too. It's fuel-efficient. This way, it fits your pocket. The cabin remains noisy and irksome. There is no music system and that's a big miss. The car, despite its economy, will face competition from other cars from different makers. But, it's an economy car all the same and your family ride will be reasonably good. There is a problem of engine reluctant to give speed even after you press on the gas. The chassis is robust and the suspension is pretty smooth. The car really runs well at moderate speed. The car should run better and smoother at high speed also. That's an area of concern for the makers. The plain-Jane look can be spruced up with little thought and without much extra cost.
