Latest Update on Eeco

The all-new Maruti Suzuki Eeco which was first launched in the early 2010s but then got a facelift and new features in 2020, according to the norms set by BS6. The new model sports two variants, one running on CNG and the other on petrol. It looks a lot like the stripped-down version of a Versa.

This new minivan has a lot of excellent features in the price range and is very convenient for people with large families. It comes with 7 seater and 5 seater options and is equipped with a very well-engineered engine management system that not only helps optimize fuel efficiency but also improves the car's overall performance. As the manufacturer marketed it, it is the perfect car for every occasion, be it storage or fitting your whole family together.

Since the Maruti Suzuki Eeco was mainly made with storage as the main priority, it has 275 litres of boot space available will all seat up. With the last row of seats folded, you can get a whopping 540 litres. That is enough storage, making this an amazing car for long drives and shifting houses.

However, that’s about it when it comes to new features. The rest of the car's exterior looks rather mundane, with very little done to make the driver and passengers feel comfortable inside. It has two doors in the front and two sliding doors to fit people in the back. The halogen headlights and the taillights have also not gone through many transformations. However, this new model does boast a duo-tone bumper, which is usually black plastic. It comes in five different colours as well, namely Metallic Glistening Grey, Cerulean Blue, Pearl Midnight Black, Metallic silky silver, and Solid White. With the boxy design of the car, it can oftentimes look a bit bulky. To cover up for that, Maruti Suzuki has inlaid stickers that give the car a bit of a sporty vibe.

As with the exterior, the interior of the car is not too extravagant in any way. It comes with a duo-tone dashboard, which also consists of the air conditioner controls and an instrument cluster. However, you can only get an air conditioner in the top two models of this car, which are 5 seaters. So if you are looking for a 7 seater car with air conditioning and CNG fuel input, this might not be your choice. Whichever variant you choose, the headrests are fixed with the seats, meaning they cannot be adjusted to your preference. Without much being said, you can understand how the interior and exterior look should not be your priority while buying the car.

That said, the car makes up for the loss with its safety features. It comes with EBD and ABS, which are not usually a common addition in cars of this price range. Along with that, you also get child lock doors and rear parking sensors with airbags on the driver’s side. That said, it is very evident that this car is built for easy and convenient city rides. On long rides, this car might feel a bit uncomfortable with the rigid seats and high ground clearance. However, when it comes to mileage, this car takes the cake. It is the best in the segment, with up to 20 kilometres for every litre of oil. This is what sets the Maruti Suzuki Eeco apart from its competitors.

If you are looking forward to buy the MarutiSuzuki Eeco, this article is perfect for you. Further you can learn the best features, different model variants and their prices here.

I was driving a non-AC Maruti 800 since year 2002 which was purchased by my father at that time. That Maruti 800 is still in a good condition but everybody knows that it?s not spacious and also as it was a non-AC, so it was horrible to drive it in summers. Since Feb 2016, I was thinking of purchasing a new hatchback car (with AC). I belong to a middle class Indian family and my budget was not that high. I could do without many features (which are available in expensive cars) like power steering, power windows, rear defogger, rear wiper, ABS, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), speed sensing door lock, parking sensors, vanity mirrors on sun visors and various other luxury features as these were also not available in Maruti 800. After all I had to shift from a 14 year old non-AC Maruti 800 to a better car. I studied about various hatchback cars on internet and then I observed that majority of popular hatchback cars of different brands like Maruti Swift, Maruti Ritz, Ford Figo, Toyota Etios Liva, Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai Grand i10, Hyundai Elite i20, were having a 1200cc engine with 4-cylinders and 16-valves, after knowing that I had determined that I was going to purchase a car which was going to have a 1200 cc engine with 4-cylinders and 16-valves. On road price of above mentioned cars was around 6 lakhs or more. I could spend only 4 lakh rupees as down payment. Now if I had to purchase a car out of the one mentioned above then I had to take a loan of 2 lakh rupees from some bank. Other problem was: - I don?t like dwarf cars and I was interested in a very tall + spacious car and out of the one mentioned above only Maruti Ritz has got a tall boy design but I wanted an even taller car. Now Maruti Wagon R has also got a tall boy design it is taller than Maruti Ritz but it has got only 1000 cc engine with 3 cylinders whereas my aim was to get 1200 cc engine. Tata Nano has also got a tall boy design but again it?s got 624cc engine with only 2-cylinders. After a lot of research, I could found only one car (Eeco) which suited me in every manner and that too from the brand of Maruti Suzuki (which is having largest support network in India). On 23rd May 2016, I have finally purchased Maruti Eeco 5 seater with AC/heater at an on road price of only rupees four lakhs and am really proud of my decision. Exterior - Tall boy design (height is 6 feet which is slightly more than that of Toyota Innova). Eeco can be considered as a small SUV or an SUV for middle class Indians. It has got very good ground clearance. Interior (Features, Space and Comfort) - Very spacious with nearly 540 litres of boot space, very comfortable high seating with very good leg space and very good head space, good under thigh support, good for long journeys. Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox - Very smooth and responsive engine, good fuel econom and very smooth gearbox with diagonal shift assist. Ride Quality and Handling - Excellent ride quality which is comparable to that of an SUV due to its tall and spacious design and high seating and noiseless engine and good suspension. Easy handling though it takes effort in using sliding doors. Final words: - Middle class Indians who are planning to purchase an Alto 800 or Alto K10 or Wagon R or Tata Nano should consider buying Eeco. Cost of Eeco is only nearly one lakh more than that of Tata Nano. Cost of Eeco is about 50 thousand more than that of Alto 800 and somewhat less than that of Alto K10. Cost of Eeco is one lakh rupees less than that of a Wagon R. Eeco is the only car on Indian roads which is offering a 1200cc engine with 4-cylinders + 16-valves at the most economical on road price of only 4 lakh rupees. A 6 feet tall, very spacious, very large boot space of 540 litres, heightened seating with good under thigh support (as that available in an SUV), 1200cc engine with 4-cylinders 16-valves, very good ground clearance.

To say a vintage car in the recent technologically developed car industry, you can think of a car without AC and a car without power steering when even heavy vehicles are fitted with such facilities. I want to speak to the designer and ask them on what basis he has designed this car in such a foolish manner. I also don't understand why Maruti Suzuki is manufacturing such a low profile car, when they can have a car fitted with AC and power steering for all the options it would be much better.

Maruti Suzuki Eeco Expert Review

How is the design of the Maruti Suzuki Eeco?

When it comes to minivans in this price range, Maruti has done quite a good job. However, the design language of the car was not the main focus of the manufacturer, and that was evident. It looks bulky and rigid and surely not as attractive as some of its contemporary models in the industry.

How does the Maruti Suzuki Eeco drive?

Maruti is known to produce some of the best engines in the automotive industry for several decades, and with the Maruti Suzuki Eeco, they have proved their customers right yet again. With a 1,196cc engine and a 5-speed manual transmission, the riding quality of this car is exceptional in its segment. Even though there can be minor jerking at high speeds, the suspensions take up most of it and do not disturb the driver. That said, it is best suited for city streets and high traffic areas.

How comfortable is Maruti Suzuki Eeco?

This is one aspect of the car in which Maruti has really compromised. There is no difference between the top model and the base model except for air-conditioning features. The seats are tough and feel very rigid. Apart from that, there is enough legroom and headspace for passengers of all kinds, and the car does feel airy inside. Along with that, the well-engineered suspension also makes up for the small jerks at high speeds and road bumps. If you are buying this car for comfort, it will be best if you go through some other options before finalising.

How is the interior?

If you are used to luxurious interiors, this car is not going to blow your mind. It has most of the basic air conditioner controls and analogue gauge meters you can find in a normal car. However, you can only get air-conditioning and the heater in the top models of Eeco. Even though there is an outlet for a multimedia system, it does not come with the model. The dashboard has a dual-tone colour which does not look too shabby.

How’s the storage?

This is one aspect where the Maruti Suzuki Eecoconquers all of its competitors. With two foldable seat rows, it surely provides you most storage in this segment of cars. With all seats up, you can get up to275litres of boot space and 540 litres when the back seats are folded.Along with that, there are conventional storage spaceson the driver and passenger doors.
How is the performance of Maruti Suzuki Eeco?
This car packs a lot of power under the hood when compared to other minivans in this segment. However, given the weight of the car, it does not really come to use. Although comfortable, you will not feel a punch when you accelerate.

How safe is Maruti Suzuki Eeco?

Maruti has really taken care of safety with this car. They have added an airbag on the driver's side, as well as installed ABS and EBD, which are not usually seen in models like these. Along with that, you get back parking sensors and child lock doors as well.

Is the Maruti Suzuki Eeco good value for money?

Given your main purpose of buying the car is portability and storage, this is one of the best models in this price range. However, if you are looking for luxury and the best driving experience, you will be better off with some other model.
