Very poor customer service , once sold no commitment of service , within short kilometers my vehicle had lot of issues , EGR failure (spare cost is 45000) Turbo failure ( spare cost is 80000) Lower arm failure (4000) Engine bed(5000) Even escalating to VW head quarters and CEO no response from the company end. VW dealers ranking is worst service in the industry .When I try to contact the Indian office , they do call blocking , such worst company never had in service industry . However the product is well engineered , if after market support is not good, can't afford in current scenario.

First of all, the positives: 1. Great driving experience as the car seats and suspension are comfortable, interiors are decent. Good for long drives 2. Very safe, as is evident from the overall structure as well as design, the car doesn't vibrate and has excellent control even at high speeds The negatives: 1. Terrible for city traffic-acceleration at low speeds is really bad 2. Fuel mileage dramatically drops in city traffic to 8-9 kmpl, but clocks 15+ on highways 3. Maintenance and spares are really, really expensive, annual service cost for a 5 year old car is approx 30k (without cost of spares) 4. Exteriors look outdated, especially from the rear-it looks like an improved cousin on the zen

The car is superb,we are chilled after a cooling of 10 minutes by the A.C, gives a mileage of 17.5 kmpl on Allahabad-Lucknow highway and around 14 kmpl in city. Leg space, boot space, luggage space everything is GREAT and music system is also very good. The negative point is only that it doesn't have airbags in this model, but it's powerful body can bear anything.

Volkswagen Polo Expert Review

How is the design of Volkswagen Polo?

The Volkswagen Polo still retains its signature design while additional touches include a spoiler for the roof, plain lines and body graphics. There are rear and front bumpers which enhance the sportiness of the premium hatchback and the design still looks handsome and appealing in spite of having majorly remained the same over a decade and more. The car has aged well and the design still charms Indian automobile enthusiasts.

How does the Volkswagen Polo drive?

The Volkswagen Polo has a refined and superbly performing engine which has won global awards. The car is slightly lower on refinement without the smooth feeling of a four cylinder mill. This is a three cylinder hatchback which has some turbo lag and the RPM is low. Going beyond 2500 RPM means that the problem is solved and it runs in a silky smooth manner. There is turbocharged torque which helps you hit higher speeds easily. The gearbox is smooth and makes driving a Volkswagen Polo utterly pleasurable. The steering is well-balanced and cornering is top-notch with full safety. The suspension is slightly inflexible although ride quality is comfortable and the tyres do not easily skid as well. Highway speeds mean that the car offers fantastic grip on the road as well.

How comfortable is Volkswagen Polo?

The suspension system is slightly inflexible for the Volkswagen Polo. However, the hatchback still rides comfortably even over bad roads. The tyres offer superb grip on the highways and overall comfort levels are noteworthy. Second row space is also good while the seats are comfortable too.

How’s the interior?

The cabin has also remained majorly similar over the years for the Volkswagen Polo. The cabin is quite basic and clutter has been kept to a minimum. There is a feeling of superb craftsmanship that pervades the interiors. The one-color scheme looks smart although it is a little tilted towards the retro end of things. There is a 6.5 inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The steering wheel has telescopic adjustment. The materials used inside are top-notch and fit and finish are satisfactory.

How’s the tech?

The Volkswagen Polo comes with a 6.5 inch touch screen in tandem with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also gets a pollen and dust filter along with Bluetooth and other steering controls, high-mounted stop lamp, digital fuel gauge and clock, glovebox cooling and more features.

How’s the Storage?

The Volkswagen Polo offers 280 litres of boot space which is adequate. Interior spaces and cubby holes are also ample.

How’s the mileage of Volkswagen Polo?

The Volkswagen Polo offers anywhere between 17.8-18.2 kmpl in terms of mileage.

How is the performance of Volkswagen Polo?

The Volkswagen Polo has an acclaimed 1.0 litre engine which dishes out 75 BHP or 109 BHP with torque of 95 Nm or 175 Nm. Overall performance is punchy with turbocharged torque and excellent driving manners.

How safe is Volkswagen Polo?

The Volkswagen Polo remains steady at higher speeds even while you are driving on the highways. You can easily corner with the Polo and not lose out on confidence. This is a 4-star rated car as part of the ASEAN safety tests and the brakes have firm grip while the tyres are knownf or their anti-skid attributes. The stiff chassis is another plus point. There are dual front airbags for the driver and front passenger along with ventilated front disc brakes, central locking, high mounted brake light, electronic anti-theft immobilizer, height adjustable front head restraints and more.

Is the Volkswagen Polo good value for money?

The Volkswagen Polo is reasonably good value for money although competitors like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno or Hyundai i20 offer plenty more features, more space and possibly more bang for the buck as well. However, the Polo is the car to buy for enthusiasts looking for better driving performance and pleasure alike.

People also ask For

  • Which model of Volkswagen Polo is best?

The Highline Plus variant of the Volkswagen Polo is the best option if you are looking at getting more value for your money. This trim is worth checking out, with or without the automatic trim option. The base Trendline variant may seem a little too costly with regard to the torque to weight ratio which is almost similar to the entry-level Alto 800. This variant also does not have as many features as you need and performance is not top of the line. The Comfortline Plus variant has all the features that you wish although the price is quite high for many buyers with the same 1.0 litre petrol engine. Hence, the Highline Plus is decently balanced with features while offering better performance.

  • How much does a Volkswagen Polo cost?

The Volkswagen Polo is priced between Rs. 6.55-10.25 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) in the Indian market.

  • Is Volkswagen Polo a good car?

The Volkswagen Polo is an excellent driver’s car. If you have to choose pure driving pleasure, sporty feels and good performance, then this is the classic premium hatcback that you should be choosing. The Polo is a fun to drive hatchback with good safety and decent features. The look and feel is premium and the design clearly attracts buyers even today. From that perspective, the Volkswagen Polo continues to be a good car for hatchback buyers with a little more money to spare for the top end of the spectrum.

  • Is Volkswagen Polo better than Maruti Suzuki Baleno?

The Volkswagen Polo competes with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno in the premium hatchback space in the Indian market. To say that it is better than the Baleno would be an overstatement. The Baleno is bigger, punchier and moer powerful while offering better features at almost the same price band. The Polo scores points with its emphasis on excellent safety ratings while also offering great drivability, driving pleasure and performance.

  • How reliable is Volkswagen Polo?

The Volkswagen Polo is an immensely reliable premium hatchback from the customer’s perspective. The Polo rides well with an extremely comfortable second row and is clearly a driver’s car. Its punchy engine and turbocharged torque make it a wonderful option for covering long distances and highway rides alike. The Polo has a good suspension system while it corners excellently. The Polo is a sheer delight to drive and from the safety point of view, it has obtained a 4-star rating in the ASEAN tests which makes it one of the best cars if you are looking for enhanced safety above all else. All in all, the Polo is a reliable car from a performnace, safety and drivability perspective. It is one of the most popular hatchbacks in the country and has stood the test for a decade and counting.

Volkswagen Polo Vs. Competition

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno is the uncrowned king of the premium hatchback segment and has even surpassed the Hyundai i20 at times in terms of sales figures and general acclaim. The Volkswagen Polo does feel dated in comparison to the Baleno while missing out on more space, power and mileage. However, the Polo still has its own set of strong points for passionate hatchback enthusiasts. The Baleno still manages to emerge unscathed for features, performance, space, mileage and overall value for money. Yet, the Polo holds its own for performance enthusiasts.

The Tata Altroz has set the cat amongst the pigeons in the premium hatchback category. The Altroz is loaded with features, sports an appealing design and offers good performance and refinement. The Volkswagen Polo sticks to its time-tested formula of good performance, charming looks, decent features and excellent driving and safety attributes. The Altroz scores bigger with its equipment and new-age feel while the Polo is still a tried and tested (albeit niche) favorite.
