How is the design of the Yamaha Fascino 125?

Yamaha may have gone for a slightly tweaked avatar of the Fascino 125 this time around. The new scooter flaunts a highly unique design template although it is slightly polarising. Some buyers may appreciate the design greatly while some may not. The design will grow on riders over time and is quite interesting. Some components that make their presence felt include the chrome touches for the apron and side panel along with the inverted triangle-esque headlight and also flowing tail portion which further extends outwards. The tail sticks far outwards and you may not be able to view the top number plate portion if you are standing in close proximity to the scooter. Yamaha has made sure that the Fascino 125 has considerable road presence and the colour options are on the bolder side. The scooter will certainly draw its fair share of attention.  

How does the Yamaha Fascino 125 ride?

The Yamaha Fascino 125 rides decently although ride quality could have improved more at lower speeds. The monoshock and telescopic fork are set up on the firmer side of things. The low speed ride is not what you call harsher but not very comfortable as well. Once you pick up higher speeds, ride quality improves greatly although it is never as similar to most of its rivals. High speed handling and stability are both decent although not the best in the segment. The braking setup is impressive overall, particularly the front disc of the scooter. The optional front disc does miss out on some more sharpness and bite.

How comfortable is the Yamaha Fascino 125 ?

The fit and finish is same as the previous model. The switches and body panels are placed nicely together although there are several plastic panels present too. They do not rattle as much although they may not age well. The front fender is a metal based unit which is a good thing but the ergonomics leave quite a bit to be desired. The more aggressively slanted upward sweep of the footboard makes it tougher to accommodate bigger foot sizes comfortably. The handlebar is comparatively low-set and it may graze the knee for those above 5 feet and 8 inches tall. The seat squab is also a little on the softer side, leading to discomfort after riding for some time.

The scooter makes use of 12 inch alloy wheels while getting the CBS or unified braking setup. There is also a side-stand cut-off switch in addition to the foldable hook, USB charging and a multifunction key among other features.

The fuel injected engine makes 8 bhpand 9.7 Nm of maximum power and torque respectively. The figures are lower than some competitors however. The Yamaha Fascino 125 packs a punch though in terms of its overall power to weight ratio. The kerb weight of 99 kg is a major boon in this regard. The 82.82 hp/tonne power to weight ratio leads to better performance overall while other reports state that the Fascino 125 can touch 60 Kmph in only 8.41 seconds which is quite impressive. The engine is highly responsive and roll-on acceleration timelines are quite impressive too, i.e. 4.57 seconds for 20-50 Kmph and 10.52 seconds for 30-70 Kmph. The Fascino 125 works nicely as a commuter scooter in the city. The engine is also highly refined and vibrations are almost nonexistent while going at higher speeds or city speeds alike. The lower kerb weight leads to enhanced mileage as well.

Is the Yamaha Fascino 125 good value for money?

The Yamaha Fascino 125 does offer good value for money if you consider the impressive fuel economy of 66 Kmpl and the low kerb weight below 100 Kg which ensures better performance and handling. Refinement is excellent for the engine and it feels responsive enough. The design is attractive and so are the colours. Overall, it is a value pick for buyers.
