About Mahindra Mojo

The Mahindra Mojo 300 ABS BS6 gets four new colours - Ruby Red, Black Pearl, Garnet Black and Red Agate. The bike retains the dual headlamp set-up with the bulbous 21-litre fuel tank, step-up style single-piece seat and alloy wheels. The bike does get a new BS6 decal on the tank extensions. The Mojo is likely to carry over the semi-digital instrument console on the latest version as well. The motorcycle is sold in a single variant with the XT and UT variants discontinued last year itself.

Power on the Mahindra Mojo 300 BS6 comes from the updated 295 cc single-cylinder engine with fuel injection. While the BS6 power figures aren't out, expect to see a mild reduction over the BS4 model. The engine previously developed 26 bhp at 7,500 rpm and a peak torque of 28 Nm at 5,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. Other cycle parts will also stay the same including the telescopic front forks and a monoshock at the rear. Braking performance comes from a 320 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc. The bike is equipped with dual-channel ABS as standard.

Why Mahindra Mojo is better than Himalayan and Dominar
@
5.0 star-fullstar-fullstar-fullstar-fullstar-full
1) Engine Refinement: This is where Mojo just out shines both Himalayan and Dominar. Don’t get me wrong being only a 295 cc motor, the power and torque is slightly lower when compared that of the 411 cc engine in the Himalayan and 373 cc in Dominar. But this 295 cc Dual Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) engine of Mojo is butter smooth, very torquey and free revving. This engine is what makes Mojo the most reliable bike for long distance touring. You can comfortable ride the bike non-stop at 100 – 120 kms/hr between 6k-7k rpm. The power in the mid-range rpm is very good and the engine is simply vibe free. At 4k rpm the bike hits 70kms and 6k rpm it will easily cross 110 kms. Top speed is close to 150 km/hr 2) Brakes : The feedback from the Brembo brakes on the Mojo is excellent. Especially the front braking set up so good that you might wonder why the same Brembo brake & disk callipers doing duty in Himalayan and Dominar are not up the mark as it is in the Mojo. I wonder if RE and Bajaj procures 2nd quality brakes from the same manufacturer just to keep their manufactuting costs low. 3) Gear box and fuel efficiency/ tank range : Mojo come with six (6) speed gear box and it is smooth, almost that of Honda refinement. You just move to 6th gear and keep the rpm needle between 4K to 6K, the bike will return a decent mileage or around 33 – 35 km/l. Add to this the petrol tank is 21 Litres capacity, so one tank full of petrol will easily give you a range of minimum 600 kms. More over the tank is full metal so attaching the magnetic tank bag is so easy. 4) Suspension: Another strong point for Mojo is the comfort and stability it provides while riding. The front telescopic suspension is very sturdy and comes with fork braces which add to the extra stability while riding over broken roads on high speeds. Also due the slightly front heavy nature of the bike with the solid forks, you can safely go over potholes even at 80kms speed and the bike will not wobble or throw you off balance. The rear suspension of Mojo is quite unique setup. The rear mono-shock is positioned slightly towards the left side (off-set like is some premium sport bikes) and it is connected directly to the chassis of the bike and not the swing arm. Add to this the rear mono-shock suspension has infinite levels of adjustment so you can set it up as per your liking. Also, apart from giving the bike its unique character mojo’s chassis is of double tubular frame type, hence the bike is solid like a rock. While Himalayan & Dominar are also good bikes, they simply do not match Mojo in this department. 5) Road presence : All 3 bikes have very good road presence due to their unique styling and exhaust note. But Mojo has a slight edge over the Himalayan and Dominar when it come its bassy exhaust sound and its dual pod headlight setup. The sound from Mojo’s single stainless steel stock silencer is just music to ears. Infact this exhaust setup on the Mojo is completely imported unit from Italy and you know good Italians when it comes to tuning their bike exhausts. The quality, fit and finish of this stainless steel exhaust unit in the Mojo is another level. You will see the exhaust on the Himalayan changing colour when it become hot, but this is not the case in the Mojo. The twin pod headlight setup might appear unconventional but it sure is a head turner and give the Mojo its unique charm and character. 6) Seat Comfort & Riding posture: Mojo’s seat is also very comfortable for both rider as well as the pillion. The handle bar is also raised a bit, wide and pulled closer to the rider. The rider foot pegs are positioned in such a way that when you sit on the bike, your back is straight and your legs are neither bent back or stretched forward. Mojo offers this perfect rider triangle, which is very important if you have back issues or want to ride for long distances. From my experience, you can easily do 200+ kms “non-stop” and 500+ kms a day without any discomfort or back ache. There are Mojo riders who do 800+ kms in a single day frequently. 7) Service and Ownership experience : Mahindra Mojo organizes regular free check-up / service camps. Spare parts of the bike are also not very costly and so is the service cost. The company recommended oil change interval is 5k kms (1.25 litres) which is very decent for a 295cc engine. Air filter, oil filter, brake pads, chain & sprocket are very affordable and the overall quality of these spare parts are also very good hence you don’t have to worry of frequently changing these in every service. Add to there are Mojo Tribe groups across the country and members are very knowledgeable. The best part is given this is very close community of riders, the showroom dealers as well as service representatives are very supportive. Mahindra Two wheeler also also organizes the MOJO annual anniversary rides for fellow riders to ride together, meet and have a good time. This experience is very important and honestly only brands selling bigger motorcycles offer these for their customers. To conclude, just see the Mojo in-person and you will immediately notice how well made bike it really is. Mojo is a bike that will easily last you for more than 2 lakh kms and will still feel rock solid. This bike is simply a notch above Himalayan and Dominar. Mojo’s superior built quality, fit and finish of all parts used and that bullet proof engine are its usp’s. It is very important to test ride all bikes as you will be spending your hard earned money. Once you test ride the Mojo, you will immediately experience the comfort it offers, engine refinement and that commanding posture. Mahindra Mojo will make you feel like you are the owner of a premium Italian motorbike with a unique charm and unmistakable road presence!
