Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 Expert Review

How is the design of the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650?

The original motorcycles from the 1960s and 1970s have spawned the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. The bikes have a throwback style and are supported by an all-new frame built in the UK by RE subsidiary Harris Performance. The chassis has been tweaked to provide outstanding handling without sacrificing comfort. The Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 are 1024 mm tall with 174 mm of ground clearance. The chrome-plated twin exhausts give the motorcycles a classic look.

How does the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 ride?

If your goal isn't to go all out around every bend, it is a bike that allows you to lean into turns at a reasonable speed. The twin cradle frame was created in collaboration with Harris Performance,. It also allows you to maintain a proper lean angle, even though the feeler bolts at the bottom of the rider foot pegs scrape at times. However, these foot pegs have springs and can fold when they come into touch with the tarmac. The GT 650's steering geometry isn't quick, but it's also not sloppy. This means that, while it won't turn at the first hint of steering input, it will need a steady stream to achieve the desired result.

How comfortable is the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650?

The ergonomic seats are one of the essential variations between the twins. The GT 650 is more elegant. It has additional rear-set foot pegs and a lower clip-on. It also has a thinner tank, which necessitates a different grip. The bike may be racy, but is far from uncomfortable. It is more upright than the previous version, implying lesser strain on the wrists.  With the lower set handlebars, there is greater weight on the front end of the ride. When you factor in the GT's increased payload on the rear suspension, it seems noticeably more elegant than the Interceptor. It also felt less prone to head movements, allowing us to ride it more aggressively and confidently.

How's the tech?

This bike has the following tech features:

  • Speedometer – Analogue
  • Tachometer – Analogue
  • Fuel Warning Indicator
  • Fuel Gauge
  • Low Oil Indicator
  • Low Battery Indicator
  • Engine Kill Switch
  • Tripmeter Type – Digital
  • Pass Light

How's the mileage of the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650?

The Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 offers mileage of 25.5 Kmpl.

How's the performance of the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650?

As you ride the bike and remove it from the side stand However, taking it easy around the corners will help you get used to things. In addition, the hunched riding stance helps to alleviate some of the weight. That's because becoming a part of the motorcycle rather than riding it brings you closer to the motorcycle's central mass. The powerful 648 cc engine dishes out 46.8 bhp and 52 Nm and performance is on the higher side at all times.

Is Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 good value for money?

The GT 650 is a fantastic motorcycle and similar to the Interceptor. However, it does not have the same emotional impact as the Interceptor. Yes, the GT is a beautiful option for a spin through your favourite winding route or even road tripping if the situation calls for it. Agreed, that the handling, power, feature list and classic design make for a tempting proposition. Yet, regular riding will call for something like the Interceptor instead of the GT 650. Practicality is one aspect that you would do well to think about in this regard.

All You Need to Know About the Continental GT 650

Here are some intriguing things that you must learn about the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650:

The Royal Enfield 650 Twins are powered by a brand new 649 cc parallel-twin engine with air and oil cooling that produces 46.8 bhp at 7250 rpm and 52 Nm of peak torque at 5250 rpm. From 2500 rpm, roughly 80% of the torque is accessible, and a flat torque curve results in plenty of power all the way up to 6000 rpm. A 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch transmits power to the rear wheels for easier lever usage. The top speed can touch 161 kmph.

The Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 and Interceptor 650 both get standard 41 mm telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers. A 320 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc will be in charge of braking duties. Dual-channel ABS is standard. The motorcycle will also have big wire-spoked 18-inch wheels.

The new Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 will get a slew of additional gear, making it an essential element of the RE-verse in today's times. Apparel, accessories, merchandise, motorbike safety gear, and more are included. You will not only be sold a motorcycle by Royal Enfield but also a lifestyle that you can flaunt in a variety of ways.

At every traffic light, the gleam of the Continental GT 650s chromed tank with mirror finish reflects the wide-eyed expressions of other drivers! When you ride the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650, you feel delighted, and a warm flush of satisfaction comes over you. And few motorcycles, regardless of the segment, can claim a sense of uniqueness as this one.

Royal Enfield put a lot of effort into developing its first parallel-twin engine. The smoothness of the bike is the first thing you notice as you ride it. It's nothing like anything you'd expect from RE. The company claims that 80% of the torque is applied before the needle reaches 2,500 rpm and they are correct!

The Conti GT never runs out of breath, and there's always a constant surge of power waiting to be tapped, no matter what revs you're riding at. The throttle response is immediate, and the engine is capable of cruising at triple-digit speeds for as long as you desire.

A 6-speed gearbox transmits all of the power to the rear wheels smoothly, with the light clutch operation and smooth changes. The engine is as refined as any parallel-twin from a more prominent and premium motorcycle manufacturer. The vibrations (on the handlebar) only appear at the very top of the rev range, thanks to a counter-balancer.

The BS6 models are identical to the BS4 versions in terms of design and colour. The design is classically old-school and straightforward. The round headlamp, circular-twin pod instrument console, front set handlebar, and contoured seat all function flawlessly. Some riders may desire more features on their motorcycle, but this may detract from the bike's "old-school cool" sense.
