Maruti Suzuki Jimny

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny was showcased in the 2020 Auto Expo in India and has captivated several admirers. The regular 3 door model is available in the international market and the 5-door model is about to exclusively launch in India. This model is popular for its retro looks and aggressive performance. Suzuki Jimny is now in its fourth generation in the international market and was first launched for sale in 1970. This powerful model gets charged from 1.5-litre petrol mill paired with 5-speed manual gearbox. The mileage offered may range between 15 kmpl to 20 kmpl depending on the driving conditions.

Design

The design of the Suzuki Jimny is stylish and sophisticated. The iconic round headlamps with washers allow anyone to drive in dirt, mud, or snow. The black angled bumpers increase the wheel clearance, and the drip rail on the top prevents dripping water. The round headlamps and indicator designs are inherited from the first-generation model, and horizontal slit-like design is adapted from the second generation. The front grilles with vertical openings and the clamshell bonnet, rear lamps at rear bumpers, are all adapted from the first two generation models. The length of this vehicle is 3300 mm which is a bit taller than its previous generations.

Cabin

The cabin is designed simply and straightforwardly but it is sensibly created. Minimum colours are used, generally, it is black and every detail is carefully attached. Aa well-equipped dashboard with a Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system is designed. There is the availability of central aircon vents and automatic climate control facilities. Drive Experience

The rigid ladder frame inherited from the first generation Jimny produces a strong foundation for serious off-road performance. Both the front and the rear end is having 3 links rigid axle suspension, that produces a rigid grip on any surface. In case of a rough road, if one wheel is pushed up by any obstacles then the axle pushes the other wheel down to increase tyre contact. Small and lightweight 1.5 L diesel engine produces high fuel efficiency, 101 bhp highest power, and 130 Nm maximum torque. The AllGrip Pro satisfies your adventure by transferring gears and driving modes from one form to another. The driving modes include 2H with 2WD high gear, 4H with 4WD high gear, and 4L with a 4WD low gear. In case of rough road, one can transfer to 4L mode. The Hill Hold Control prevents backwards rolling while moving up a hill and controls acceleration. The Hill Descent Control automatically applies brake with a single button to apply a brake and maintain a fixed speed while driving down an inclined slope. The brake LSD Traction control feature provides automatic brake to the wheels on a slippery surface and redistributes torque on the other two wheels. The body angles like departure angles, approach angles, and ramp break-over angles, and the 200mm ground clearance handles the movement of the vehicle on any surface.

Safety

With the protections available in the Suzuki Jimny, one can drive with no tension and a peaceful mind. There are two sensors in the vehicle - a monocular camera and a laser sensor. If the risk of collision is lower then the driver gets alerted with an audio and visual warning. If the risk is high, the brake assist increases the braking force. If the risk of collision is higher then strong automatic braking is applied. High Beam Assist is provided for night tours. The vehicle is having a weaving alert that produces an audio and visual warning in case if the driver is feeling drowsy while driving. Lane Departure warning and the traffic sign recognition are the other two special protective measures taken by the company.

Price

It is expected that the small 4×4 new generation Suzuki Jimny will start from Rs. 8 lakh. The expected ex-showroom price of all the variants may range in between Rs. 5.50 lakh to 8.00 lakh.
