Honda X-Blade Expert Review

How is the design of Honda X-Blade?

Honda X-Blade, with its sharp and refined appearance and excellent engine displacement which is 160cc, creates a good impression Honda motorcycle market between Unicorn 160 and Hornet. The changed design is remarkable. The radical shape of the shell becomes smaller but eye-catching, and the robot's face makes it look attractive.

The overall design remains largely unchanged, but the tank shrouds are now finished in the same colour as the rest of the bike; the tank and tail section features new graphics. The mid-section of the motorcycle and the panels below the tank have received a textured finish as well. Honda has also redesigned the exhaust end can; it now comprises two exhaust ports. The bike also sports a sleeker belly pan.

The ‘Robo-face' full-LED headlamp does resemble a non-biological face when lit up and has got a small windshield on top of it. The protruding tank shrouds give a sense of agility to the X-Blade and the dual-tone paint scheme further accentuates it.

How does the Honda X-Blade ride?

It is a flickable bike. Filtering traffic is very simple. Although the bike is not a curve machine, it stays neutral and does the job. The 140 kg curb weight allows the driver to exercise easily. The bike passes through the narrowest gap on a busy highway, and this is where the X-Blade shines in the chaos of the city. The transmission on the Honda X-Blade is a link-type shifter that promises smooth shifts. Throttle response is pretty decent for a motorcycle at this price point and engine size; making the Honda X-Blade an ideal motorcycle for the city. The dual-outlet muffler, on the other hand, creates a sweet exhaust note too, for a single-cylinder. The brand's HET (Honda Eco Technology) power plant gives a good balance between performance and fuel efficiency, by providing optimal combustion at all throttle inputs. All Honda products sold in the country employ this technology.

How comfortable is Honda X-Blade?

We like the way the engine starts cleanly from 4000 rpm. It has excellent mid-range handling and is especially useful when driving in city traffic. However, when the tachometer exceeds 6500 RPM, the pedal and steering wheel will vibrate. But we miss the familiar Honda smoothness. Although we encountered the wrong idle speed twice, the five-speed gearbox and is smooth. The motor is not the most powerful in its class, but in the process of reaching the movement goal, it can indeed complete the work well. Any speed from 50 to 90 km/h-X-Blade is in a happy place. At a kerb weight of 140kg, the X-Blade is quite light for easy manoeuvring in tight traffic conditions. The handlebar is in the right position for any rider of any size to easily get used to the motorcycle, and the ride quality is also good in typical Honda fashion.

How is the tech?

Honda uses the same air-cooled, balanced engine as the Unicorn BS6, with a displacement of 162.7cc and fuel injection. In X-Blade, the output power of the device is 13.86 PS. 14.7 Nm, corresponding to 0.94 PS. 0.7 Nm more than the unicorn. The power of the BS4 X-Blade mechanical engine is 0.26 hp. But the new engine torque and maximum torque are 0.8 Nm higher. The five-speed transmission remains unchanged. The mechanics of the X-Blade has not changed. You can still get the same conventional telescopic fork and adjustable mono damper with preload as before. The same is true for 17-inch wheels and diagonals. Honda finally offered the X-Blade a rear disc brake option. You can choose between a 220mm disc or a 130mm drum on the back. Both models use disc brakes with a diameter of 276 mm, as does the single-channel ABS.

How is the mileage of Honda X Blade?

The mileage of the Honda X Blade is 45 Km/l and with a claimed mileage figure of around 45 – 50km/l, the Honda X-Blade is a reasonable buy in the commuter motorcycle market. Combined with the 12-litre fuel tank capacity, the X-Blade promises a decent riding range for both urban and rural use. However, it won’t be an ideal choice for long rides.

How is the performance of Honda X Blade?

Honda X-Blade is powered by the same 160 cc single-cylinder engine. The air-cooled engine with fuel injection and compensation in the new Unicorn BS6; however, its adjustment method is different, the output is 13.8 PS. The speed is 8000 rpm and 14.7 Nm when the speed is 5500 rpm. It is connected to the same 5-speed gearbox as before.

Is the Honda X Blade good value?

The Honda X Blade offers good value for money on account of its powerful 160 cc single cylinder engine. The power and torque outputs are good and the bike also offers 12 litres of fuel tank capacity with 45 Kmpl in terms of mileage which is decent. This could have been slightly higher and the motor may have offered a bit more power but overall the bike does make its presence felt in its category.

All You Need to Know About the X-Blade

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India are on a launch spree of sorts. The company has launched the BS6 variants of the Grazia, Livo and the X-Blade in the last month. The Honda X-Blade is the company's premium offering in the 160 cc segment and it was recently launched across the country, with prices starting at Rs. 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The motorcycle will be available in two variants, one with a single disc up front and the other with a disc brake upfront and at the rear as well. Here is everything you need to know about the new Honda X-Blade BS6. The X-Blade is a fresh-out-of-the-field bike that slots among the Unicorn and Hornet in Honda’s product line-up.

The Honda X-Blade BS6 gets a 160 cc single-cylinder engine which is air-cooled. The engine pumps out 13.67 bhp at 8,000 rpm while the peak torque is rated at 14.7 Nm at 5,500 rpm. The engine is paired to a 5-speed gearbox like before. To make it BS6 compliant, the engine gets programmed fuel injection with eight sensors that inject the optimum level of air and fuel mixture. Honda claims this offers better efficiency and performance. Other additions include a counter-balancer to reduce vibrations and Honda's Eco Technology (HET).

The BS6 X-Blade gets a few styling updates as well, to make it more appealing to younger audiences. The motorcycle now gets a cross-shaped LED headlight which Honda calls 'Robo-face'. The tail light at the rear is an LED unit too. The fuel tank is now sculpted, adding more muscle to the motorcycle. The exhaust can with dual outlets is a new unit as well and so are the graphics, wheel stripes and the split grab-rails. The Robo-face LED headlamp, T-fashioned tail lamp, sharp and chiselled gasoline tank with matte carbon finish gives the bike an exclusive look. The front of the motorcycle is equipped with a telescopic fork at the front and a single shock at the rear.

The Bike is built on a diamond-shaped chassis. The 17-inch wheels are covered with 80/100 rubber at the front and 130/70 at the rear. In terms of features, the BS6 Honda X-Blade gets a new engine start/stop switch which is the only new feature so to say. Apart from that, the X-Blade continues to get hazard lamps, a fully digital instrument console that displays, gear position, service due indicator, clock along with the regular stuff.

Braking power is provided by a 276 mm brake disc at the front and a 130 mm brake drum at the rear. The good news is that X-Blade is a sturdy and reliable product, and it may bring good sales to Honda.
