However, sensors are working fine. Note: I had worst experience with Acer motors Tirumalgiri, Hyd. Sales and support team is pathetic.

Maruti Suzuki S-Presso Expert Review

How is the design of Maruti Suzuki S-Presso?

The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is basically a mini SUV or a compact hatchback with slightly higher ground clearance, greater height and a rugged appearance akin to a small SUV (sport utility vehicle). It is an entry-level hatchback to compete with the Renault Kwid that has been spruced up like a crossover-SUV to garner eyeballs ahead of the latter which still looks attractive till date. The Kwid is the reason behind Maruti Suzuki choosing to venture into this erstwhile uncharted territory of a crossover-esque entry-level hatchback sitting side by side with the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800. However, the design is still found wanting and the cost-cutting is quite visible at times. The design is not complete from a visual perspective and seems dated and not something that arrived only in 2019.

The square and massive wheel arches have exaggerated height, leading to a yawning gap between the body and wheels. This makes it try hard to seem like an SUV although the wheels appear smaller than they really are. The rear design is okay at best while the front headlamps do assume an awkward stance. However, looks are subjective and the S-Presso has found takers who appreciate the forwardness of its design and approach towards wanting to be an entry-level mini SUV.

How does the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso drive?

The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso drives reasonably well amidst city traffic conditions. In higher speed scenarios, however, the body roll is more apparent for this otherwise smoothly functioning city car. The higher seating position is good though and brings home a more SUV-like way of functioning. The steering is another thing that affects overall drivability. If you have been used to slightly wobbly and soft Maruti Suzuki hatchback steering systems, this one will please you with its nice and well-balanced steering feedback. Overall drivability ratings are good at mid-range and lower speeds.

How comfortable is Maruti Suzuki S-Presso?

The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso offers reasonable comfort for occupants. The car is good in city conditions and also for shorter jaunts on the highway. The seats offer decent support while legroom is also good at the rear. The height of the car makes it more comfortable while overall ride and handling is good on city roads. High-speed manners seem slightly lacking for the car, especially with regard to the body roll and suspension system.

How’s the interior?

The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso comes with a newly designed and incorporated dashboard which has been inspired by the look of a sports watch as per Maruti Suzuki’s official statement. This has black base color complemented by body-colored bezels for the infotainment zone and air conditioning vents alike. The top-end model gets the 7-inch touch screen infotainment unit, complete with SmartPlay Studio and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. The instrument console remains neatly positioned at the center and is a fully digital unit. You also get the air conditioning system beneath the same along with a set of 12V charging sockets and USB connectivity as well. There are steering mounted audio controls available in tandem with toggles for telephony functions too. The car just has manual ORVM controls although it gets front power windows and power steering. The rear passengers will have to roll down windows with the levers.

How’s the tech?

The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso comes with several features including the 7-inch touch screen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, digital instrument cluster, keyless entry and front power windows among other tech features.

How’s the Storage?

The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso offers 270 litres of boot space in total.

How’s the mileage of Maruti Suzuki S-Presso?

The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso offers good fuel economy between 21.4 and 21.7 kilometres per liter.

How is the performance of Maruti Suzuki S-Presso?

The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso comes with a 998 cc engine that makes 67 BHP and 90 Nm of peak torque. The manual and AMT units both work well for generating decent performance in this class.

How safe is Maruti Suzuki S-Presso?

The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso comes with ample safety features including dual front airbags along with three-point seatbelts for four passengers. There is a two-point hip seatbelt for passengers in the middle at the rear. Safety features as standard include the driver-side airbag, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, seatbelt reminder, high-speed alert and crash and pedestrian protection.

Is the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso good value for money?

The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is reasonable value for money, if you are looking for a nicely performing and relatively spacious entry-level offering that is more like an SUV in terms of its look, feel and height. It is one of the good options for those who want a little more variety in this category as opposed to conventional models like the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, the S-Presso’s stablemate.
