The Tata Nexon EV is a fully electric SUV launched for the first time in India by Tata Motors. There is Ziptron electric powertrain tech. it’s the first vehicle by the company that is an electric vehicle to be sold to private buyers. There are three variants – XM, XZ+ and XZ +LUX. There is an ARI certified electric range of 312km on a single charge. There is an efficient high voltage system and there is a fast-charging facility with extended battery life and other safety features. The highlights of the car are electric blue that is stylish. They are inserted both from the exterior and the interior. There are three colour options like signature teal blue, glacier white and moonlit silver. They have got dual-tone treatment with a contrast roof. There is a projector headlamp, LED DRLs, auto climate control, keyless entry and a button start. There are power window, electric tailgate and steel wheel rim with EV highlight signature cover.

There are add-on features such as electric sunroof, leather upholstery, automatic rain-sensing wiper, and auto headlamps with ambient and tunnel detection in the top-end variant of the car. There is a 7-inch dashtop touchscreen infotainment system made by Harman. There are 4-speakers and 4 tweeters. The navigation is based on smartphone. There is an option of video playback, voice command and other features.

I am using this car since 13 months as on June 2021. Driven close to 8000kms and enjoyed every bit of drive and speed, comfort and driving in radius of 100 to 150kms is possible... increase in Charging stations in high way will boost the drive to long distance... Tata, Govt and Private Players are putting efforts to increase the charging station all over highways ... this car is for planned drive only... so go for it if you want to get away from Pertol or Diesel... Milage is approx 210 to 230 per charge...

How is the design of Tata Nexon-EV?

You will find a facelift of Nexon when you watch it. There are new headlamps and the grille design also is novel. The colour is tea-blue and it comes with blue accents that are spread across the car. This is unique for this car. There are some pragmatic changes made to the car like the bonnet has been raised a bit. The car has been built keeping with pedestrian compliance. The pedestrian protection norms have been considered while designing the car.

How does the drive Tata Nexon EV?

It feels very good to drive a Tata Nexon EV car. You have 127 bhp of power and the torque is 245 Nm. You will be conveniently and speedily getting the power and torque the moment you pump on the gas. Apart from the normal driving mode, there is one sports mode of driving too that you will enjoy driving. It offers you 60 per cent torque. The torque is transmitted to the motor. The push will drive the car and it will be a pleasant experience for you. There is a modified suspension that will not let you feel anything on the rough terrains. It will be a comfortable ride due to the suspension. You will find some challenges in the gears. The motors have permanent magnets. The power given to them is 30 lithium-ion. The max charge is 312 km on a single charge. The batteries will function smoothly at varying temperatures.

The Tata Nexon EV car is very comfortable because it is loaded with all the parts and accessories that offer utmost comfort. The cabin is large enough to feel the comfort in a wide space. To top it, there is a suspension that keeps the ride smooth even on rough roads.

There is a 7-inch touchscreen that is a dashtop for infotainment. The infotainment system comes from Harman. You will find there are 4 speakers. There is a system of navigation through the smartphone and there is a video playback option too. It has a voice command option. The Apple CarPlay comes fitted in the cabin and there is an Android Auto. There is a battery fitted under the floor. The floor area is sufficient and there is no compromise on it. The floor is flattened and there is enough space to accommodate the passengers. There are AC vents present. There are no charging points.

How’s the tech?

The car uses a permanent magnet AC motor. The motor is powered by a 30 kWh lithium-ion battery. It gives 312 km on a single charge. The battery has been engineered to operate in different types of weather and temperature conditions. There is an electronic powertrain in Nexon EV. It gives 245 Nm of torque at its peak. You can get to a triple-digit speed within 9.9 seconds. The battery can be charged within an hour up to 80%. It can be so with a fast charger. The home charger will take 8 hours to fully charge the vehicle. The voice command, keyless entry, latest infotainment, touchscreen, etc. are other technological features. There is an auto engine start and stop function.

The boot space of the car is 350 litres. The capacity is 5 passengers and there is enough legroom and the floor is fully flat so that it becomes more accommodative and comfortable.

Its only rival is MZ ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric. These are more expensive. You will get good finance schemes too for this car.

Pros

  • There is one Battery Management System for the extended life of the battery. There is a dedicated cooling circuit helped by the powertrain. You get cooling in hot conditions also. There is a warranty of 8 years or 1.6 lakh km, whichever comes earlier. It is the best affordable Electric SUV so far.

Cons

  • Leather upholstery is missing, and there are no rain-sensing wipers. There are no auto headlamps. There is no electric sunroof. The range is a concern. The percentage of the range of charge keeps falling as you go on driving.

The Nexon EV has established itself as a true-value low-cost EV on offer. It’s a good sale till now. It has got 5-star ratings on the international platform based on crash tests and customer reviews. The car is truly smooth and effortless to drive both in traffic and in other conditions. There is good power and acceleration.

It is available in three variants – XM, XZ+ and XZ+ LUX and in three colour options: glacier white, signature teal blue and moonlit silverIt has a permanent-magnet AC motor that is powered by a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery.
After a long waiting period, Tata Motors has finally launched the Nexon EV in India. The starting price is Rs 13.99 lakhs. The electric SUV is available in three variants – XM, XZ+ and XZ+ LUX variants. The newly launched Tata Nexon EV is further available in three colour options – signature teal blue, glacier white and moonlit silver. The electric SUV comes with a standard warranty of three years/1.25 lakh km and a battery and motor warranty for eight years/1.6 lakh km. Additionally, customers can avail extended vehicle warranty for five years at an additional cost.
The Tata Nexon EV has a permanent-magnet AC motor which is powered by a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery. The electric motor belts out 127bhp and 245Nm of torque which enables the electric SUV to achieve a speed from 0 to 100kmph in just 9.9 seconds. The battery pack meets the IP67 standards and that makes it water and dustproof. A 3.3kW bundled charger can charge the battery pack from 20-100 per cent in eight hours. It also has an option of a 25kW fast charger that can charge the battery from 0-80 per cent in 60 minutes. The vehicle health monitoring system helps with remote diagnostics, Over-The-Air (OTA) updates and vehicle health alerts.
The Tata Nexon EV is based on the Impact Design 2.0 language. The electric SUV gets a sporty central grille with signature tri-arrows, wide grille with signature Humanity Line running from lamp to lamp. As for the interior, the top-spec version gets features like an electric sunroof, automatic climate control, leatherette seats, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, and a seven-inch touchscreen display among others. The Nexon EV has earned a five-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test. The electric SUV will get safety equipment like dual airbags, ABS with EBD and corner stability control.
