About Bajaj Chetak

Bajaj surprised the world with their newest innovation in the form of an electric scooter. The Chetak is a fully equipped electric vehicle that was launched in January 2020. The scooter redefined the entire turf of electric vehicles and is available for sale in Pune and Bangalore.

It comes in two variants that differ in specifications and are closely associated with the pricing. The basic model, Chetak Urbane, is priced at INR 1,42,830, whereas the top-spec model, Chetak Premium, is priced at INR 1,44,830.

It has a sleek design with a comfortable seat that can accommodate two people.
It is an efficient scooter in terms of energy consumption. The motor gets charged at a fast speed which qualifies the vehicle for longer routes as well. If the battery is fully charged, you can ride up to 95 kilometres in a single run.

Bajaj left no stone unturned to change the standard perception of the audience regarding the efficiency of an electric scooter. They incorporated a 4080 W BLDC motor that allows the scooter to reach a top speed of 70 kmph.

In a nutshell, Bajaj Chetak is a good option for the modern audience that is looking forward to reducing the carbon footprint in the world. The scooter is adequate for all forms of commuting and offers vintage and classic design.

Bajaj Chetak Expert Review

Have a look at what the experts have to say after their first-hand experience with Bajaj Chetak. These reviews are handcrafted by industry experts to offer people credible and valuable insights.

How is the design of Bajaj Chetak?

Bajaj has been known for stellar designs, and they lived up to their goodwill by taking the design of Chetak to another pedestal. The scooter is perfect for the modern generation, and the features are incredibly enticing.

The scooter has also been cited as one of the most stylish looking scooters in the market. The design is chic, but it resonates with the classic trajectory of Bajaj. The colour palette provides a plethora of options so that everyone can find the perfect match.

The paint job of the scooter provides a glossy finish which complements the ergonomic exterior design. The curves are placed at the right places that help the rider to cruise through the traffic on all occasions.

In terms of detailing, Bajaj offers a variety of features. The headlight of Chetak is a bright LED that is surrounded by a LED strip. This addition revamps the classic design of Chetak and allows it to come up as a modern offering.

The scooter gets 12-inch alloy wheels which are stylishly designed.

How does the Bajaj Chetak ride?

The Bajaj Chetak justifies all the traits of an electric scooter, and therefore the performance is magnificent. Its motor works quietly without producing mechanical noise so that you can ride in silence.

This feature might set some users off as the feeling of riding a scooter is somewhat eliminated; however, the power and the torque remain solid even in the absence of a fuel-charged engine. The scooter cruises through empty roads, and thus it is an option worth considering.

In terms of power, the motor of the scooter has a peak level of 4080 W which is adequate for any two-wheeler. It allows the scooter to generate high amounts of torque which results in instant pick-up and constant high speed.

The Bajaj Chetak comes with two riding modes to support the riding requirements of the consumer. These modes differ in the levels of power generation so that the efficiency of the motor can be capitalized.

For starters, the Eco mode is meant for busy roads where you cannot sail through the traffic, whereas the sports mode empowers the rider to brush past the empty streets quickly. These modes require different levels of battery, and therefore, you should be mindful while using them.

If the scooter detects a slope or an uphill drive, the sensors present in the charging unit shift the modes automatically so that the users can focus on the road without constant manual intervention. The same feature gets activated on less busy streets so that the scooter can overtake and breeze past the limited traffic.

To summarise, the Bajaj Chetak might not be as potent as any other fuel-powered 125cc scooter, but it can support the riding needs of a versatile audience with its quirky yet fantastic features.

How comfortable is Bajaj Chetak?

The Bajaj Chetak has an ergonomic body that is accompanied by a wide comfortable seat. It is at par with the industry standards.

In terms of suspension, Bajaj has installed a leading link suspension so that the impact of speed breakers can be negated to a bare minimum. You will also find a mono-shock suspension at the rear for better overall comfort.

Many stakeholders were anticipating the inclusion of ABS in Chetak, however, the company did not move ahead with these expectations. It scrutinized the internal anatomy and installed a combined braking system.

Since the external body is light, you can expect decent handling while riding the scooter for even the most essential things. It passes with flying colours in the domain of luxury and comfort, which makes the proposition more exciting.

How efficient is the technology that is used in Chetak?

Technology is the unique selling proposition of the Bajaj Chetak. Be it the artificial intelligence-like features or the LCD screen that is present in the centre, it does well in all possible domains.

The LCD screen is one of the USPs. The interface is easy to navigate with clear and visible fonts that comply with a black and white theme. The screen is also equipped with Bluetooth that can be operated through a user-friendly application by Bajaj.

If you dive deep into the My Bajaj application, you will find that once your device has secured a Bluetooth connection with Chetak, there are plenty of options that are not present in the variants created by the competitors.

You can control the choice of your music from the left handlebar while implementing geofencing for security and tracking purposes. You will also find all the real-time statistics so that you are well prepared with the timeline of the next charging session.

The sensors in the Integrated Charging Unit also throw some light on the significant research and development that has been conducted while making this vehicle. All these features highlight the modern acceptance and also equip the scooter to please every rider that tries it out!

How is the battery life of Bajaj Chetak?

The Chetak comes with a Bosch battery which is also certified with an IP-67 rating. The battery promises a run of 85 km in the sports mode while extending it to 95 km for the eco mode. These figures are tough to attain on Indian roads, but the actual output resembles the claims.

The battery sustains itself for a reasonable duration of time when it is not in use. It lasts for a few days rather than getting exhausted within a single day. The retention of battery is subjective to the use of the rider, and therefore, you will have to plan your charging sessions wisely.

The scooter gets fully charged in around five hours which means that you can charge it in one night to get it ready for a couple of days.

If the scooter is discharged, an hour full of charging will allow it to reach 25 per cent of its full potential. This quick charging feature is made possible with the use of an advanced charging cable which is a part of the total cost of the scooter.

How is the overall performance of Bajaj Chetak?

Bajaj Chetak offers a smooth riding experience to every rider who takes it for a spin. It has a durable exterior frame that is exceedingly stylish and retro.

The motor of the scooter offers a top speed of 70 kmph, which is adequate for most Indian cities.

There are two modes that shuffle according to the position of the scooter and the levels of battery during the ride. The eco mode is a blessing for daily commuters.

To wrap the entire offering up with a show stopper, Bajaj also provides a warranty of 3 years/5000 km, which motivates many users to shift from the traditional scooters to this modern marvel.

Is the Bajaj Chetak a good value for money product?

The Bajaj Chetak electric scooter offers good value for money but is limited by its availability. The overall mix of performance, comfort and features justify the premium pricing but there are other electric scooters that are equally good, if not better.

Be it the electric motor or the wisely chosen suspension, each bit of the scooter is planned and executed precisely.

The modern functions that come with the LCD panel constitute a significant source of traction. It adds to the customer experience journey by adding a touch of smartness to it. Bluetooth is a crucial takeaway since it allows the user to form connections with the scooter.

These scooters come in plenty of colours, and therefore you can choose the colour which resonates the most with you.

Bajaj Chetak is a complete value for your money which will also mark your contribution towards a better tomorrow.

People also ask For

  • How much does Bajaj Chetak cost?

Bajaj launched their electric scooter Chetak while keeping the class of premium audience in mind. Even though it is at par with the industry standards, the pricing did make the customers think twice before even considering the scooter.

The primary model is called Chetak Urbane, and it is priced at INR 1,42,830. These prices can differ as the regulations of each state are different. The same Urbane is priced more in Bangalore, and therefore you should confirm the exact price from a nearby outlet.

The advanced model is called Chetak Premium, and it is priced at INR 1,44,830. The model features many additional features, and therefore, there is a slight difference in the pricing. The existing base of customers has shown interest in both models.

  • Is Bajaj Chetak a good scooter?

Bajaj Chetak is a versatile and practical solution towards a sustainable future. It eradicates the need for traditional fuel-powered scooters that are harmful to the environment. These scooters do not make any noise and operate in silence to curb noise pollution as well.

The BLDCmotors power these scooters for the best in class performance, which ensures that the claimed high speed of 70 kmph is achieved.

  • Which model of Bajaj Chetak is the best?

The target market for Chetak showed similar levels of excitement for both models even before they were launched. People with a strict budget did not feel disheartened as the Urbane model offers almost every feature that the premium model does.

However, if there has to be one winner, it has to be the Bajaj Chetak premium. The premium model gets many extended features that elevate the offering to a different pedestal. It comprises disc brakes, a plusher seat, and even metallic options in the colour palette.

Bajaj Chetak premium is a high-quality electric scooter with all the mentioned extra incentives. If there is no restriction of budget, it should be the primary choice of every rider who is interested in purchasing an electric vehicle.

Bajaj Chetak Vs. Competition

It is common for every consumer to get confused between two equally fantastic options. Here is a face-off between Bajaj Chetak and Ather 450X.

  • In terms of pricing, Bajaj outshines Ather since the Chetak is INR 27,000 less than the 450X. The performance of Bajaj is optimised for daily needs, which gives it a clear edge over its most daunting competitor.
  • Ather 450X is a wise option, but its colours are limited to only three options. These options are solid colours that fail to entice the excitement that Bajaj Chetak was able to create, owing to its extensive palette.
  • In terms of the size of the wheel, Ather ensures a clear victory as it offers a better ground clearance. This is also one of the most prominent reasons for their popularity and goodwill in the market.
  • The Ather 450X features a telescopic suspension, and therefore critics were expecting the same from Bajaj Chetak. However, Chetak went ahead with a leading link unit which seems to be providing a comfortable ride.

Sir, I have taken test Drive of the Electric vehicle, I feel the handle has to be risied slightly as it is straining the elbows and shoulders. The tyre sizes front and back are the same, if you see Vespa, Honda etc., the front tyre is of a higher diameter compared to the back tyre, may be because of this the driving is comfortable with no strain. I request you to give expertise comment on this feed back Sir.

If you want to compare all the electric bikes that are available in the market today from Okinawa to Revolt and Hero electric along with others, this scooter has got one of the lowest configuration in terms of range, speed, and torque given the price that you pay for the same. Its an overrated bike in terms of specs that available for the price that you are paying. Given the fact that Bajaj is not even an electric two wheeler specialist manufacturer, its a sheer wastage of money to buy this bike. There are much better models out there in the market at a reasonable price.
